Our second vintage of Chardonnay is beautiful. Following ample rainfall in the winter, the growing season was warm and mild, allowing the oldest block of vines in the vineyard to create intense citrus and limestone flavors, with crisp refreshing acidity, hints of toasted oak and stone fruit.
"Builds intensity and gains depth, from a youthful core of mineral and sage laced red berry to touches of anise, cedar and red plum, accented by hints of mocha. A good bet to gain. Drink now." Wine Spectator, 91 Points
This is our first vintage of Chardonnay made from the oldest block of vines in the vineyard. The 2012 growing season was near perfect for us unlike the year before. Our chardonnay block produced about 3 tons per acre, totaling 6 tons. The fruit then went straight to press, and then the juice was put into barrels, to be barrel fermented with native yeast. After secondary fermentation came to an end it was racked clean, then keept in barrel until august when it was bottled.
"Pushes ripeness to reveal blackberry, wild berry and blueberry flavors, giving this an assertive, zesty profile that shows some heat and gripping tannins. Ends with a long, lingering finish, revealing anise and dried sage nuances. Drink now through 2020. 800 cases made." -Wine Spectator, 91 points
